Potential Black Friday Blues
The results of a Yahoo/Maru Public Opinion survey released today suggest that less Canadians are absolutely committed to purchasing goods on this coming Black Friday pre-Christmas sales kick-off than they did in 2020 (from 25% who admit to doing so then to 21% now.)
Funding Afghanistan Safe Houses
A poll released by Maru Public Opinion on the eve of Canada’s Remembrance Day ceremonies reveals that a vast majority (80%) of Canadians support the government of Canada funding approximately $6 million over the next year to Canadian veteran’s groups and other non-government organizations so they can keep operating safe houses in Afghanistan for interpreters who assisted allied military forces and their families until they can be processed and get out of the country.
Money Memories Matter
The results of a Maru Public Opinion survey undertaken for Meridian reveals that when it comes to attitudes about finances, budgeting and investing, most Canadians admit they are still battling hang-ups from childhood.
Small Business Looking to Hire
A poll released today by Maru Public Opinion undertaken for ADP Canada confirms that its more difficult for Canada’s small business owner/operators to find and retain employees than it was before COVID-19 struck almost twenty months ago but there’s an underlying tenacity to compete for talent and perhaps even a silver lining in it all for the post-pandemic era.
No House Price Bubble Burst
The results of a Yahoo/Maru Public Opinion survey released today indicates that a majority (68%) of Canadians believe house prices will continue to rise over the next couple of years with only one third (32%) believing the bubble will burst any time soon (and even then, there’s no consensus as to when it will occur.)
Equalization Matters
While the results of the Alberta referendum on the fairness of and attachment to the federal program may not be known from Elections Alberta until October 26, 2021, a poll released today from Maru Public Opinion finds that three-quarters (75%) of Albertans believe their province is treated unfairly under Canada's current equalization program.
Netting Employer Benefits
A Maru Public Opinion poll released on behalf of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) finds that Canadian employers that offer retirement savings benefits report higher levels of employee productivity over the past year and have greater optimism for the future.
A Divided Country
A Maru Public Opinion poll released today finds that whether it’s what they believe has been left behind as a result of the election, whether democracy works or not, or (with only a couple of exceptions) the job prospects for the main party leaders from the end of this election to leading in the one that comes next, Canadians are a divided lot, living in what they believe to be very divided country.
Q3 Premier Approvals
A new quarterly survey of approval ratings of Canada’s premiers was released by Maru Public Opinion today and finds that Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe (63% -1) continues to lead as the country’s most popular provincial leader. This is the third quarter where the Premier has led the way.
Raising the Flag
Maru Public Opinion released the results of a survey today that finds a majority (62%) of Canadians want the Canadian Flag raised from half to full-staff on October 1, 2021, the day following Canada’s national day of commemorating Truth and Reconciliation for Indigenous people.
Rising Tax Concerns
A Yahoo/Maru Public Opinion poll released today finds that a majority (82%) of Canadians are concerned that their federal personal taxes will rise because of the increased spending/size of the deficit – regardless of which political party gets into power in the aftermath of the upcoming September 20, 2021, election.
Anemic Liberal Brand
Maru Public Opinion released the results of a survey today that finds a majority (73%) of Canadians are open to voting for another political party to run the country other than the Liberals led by Justin Trudeau—leaving a mere twenty-seven percent apparently fully committed to the Prime Minister and his party. Only slightly more (32%) say they’ll use their vote to give Justin Trudeau a majority government.
