Driving Ballot Questions
A Maru Public Opinion poll released today finds that the top issues currently shaping Canadian's ballot box choice in the federal election called by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last Sunday, are to make the cost of living and affordability better for themselves and/or their family (28%), to preserve the environment, reduce greenhouse gasses, and reverse climate change (23%), to curtail federal government spending so the deficit does not grow (19%), and to create jobs and grow the economy (17%).
Pre-Election Call Matters

Vaccine Identity and Workplace Compliance

Canadian Vacations Turn Inward
A Yahoo/Maru Public Opinion survey was released today that sheds some light on whether and where Canadians intend to travel and vacation over the next year. And while there should be nothing surprising in the findings, there’s something better: enlightenment and opportunity.
Canadians and Cannabis Edibles
The results of a new survey released today by Maru Public Opinion commissioned by Cronos Group finds that of the four in ten (41%) Canadians who admit to having consumed cannabis, almost half (46%) single out cannabis gummies as their favourite form of edibles, one in five (21%) would say yes to a cannabis edible on a first date, and four in ten (38%) would prefer receiving cannabis edible gummies to wine if given the choice. The study also found that of those who consumed cannabis during the pandemic, one in 7 (15%) tried it for the first time.
Toronto Changes Dundas
In the wake of Toronto City Council having decided to change the name of Dundas Street and Dundas Square because of the past travesties of its name’s sake, the findings of a survey released today by Maru Public Opinion demonstrates that while a majority of Torontonians are initially supportive of the renaming (55%), opposition (61%) to doing so grows significantly when Toronto residents consider both the city costs and the personal and business administrative requirements that will follow due to the changes.

Ontario Notwithstanding Election Limits
A new survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds a relative split in public opinion on the Ford Government’s recent third-party ad-limiting election reform package and its subsequent invocation of the Constitution’s not-withstanding-clause to override an Ontario Superior Court that ruled the new 12-month pre-election restriction was unnecessary and infringed on rights set out in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Economy Right Direction, Pocketbooks Worse Off
