Canadians and Preferred Post Pandemic Activities, Money Habits
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion that was conducted on behalf of Scotiabank finds that while Canadians continue living through some forms of restrictions due to COVID-19, many are looking ahead to life after the pandemic with the top three things on their list being to attend large gatherings with family and friends, travelling by air outside of Canada and enjoying a meal at a restaurant with friends.
Pandemic Perils: Half (47%) of Canadian Mothers Reaching Breaking Point
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion on behalf of the Canadian Women’s Foundation finds that half (47%) of Canadian mothers believe they are reaching a “breaking point” compared with fewer fathers (38%) willing to admit the same.
No Budget Bounce: Majority of Canadians Believe Economy on Wrong Track
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion indicates that a majority (54%) of Canadians believe the Canadian economy is on the Wrong Track—exactly where it was last month at this time but slightly better than it was two months ago when more (57%) held this pessimistic view. This compares with a minority (46%) who today believe the Canadian economy is moving in the Right Direction.
Ontarians Assess Ford Government Recent COVID Responses
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds a vast majority (79%) of Ontarians believe the Ford government is basically flying by the seat of its pants rendering them constantly in response mode. Further compounding this perspective is that only one quarter (26%) of Ontarians believe the Ford government is making decisions based more on political considerations that are in their own interest.
Premier Doug Ford's Falling Political Fortunes
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds that the performance rating of the Doug Ford government has taken a significant hit since last measured at the beginning of March 2021 down from 48% at that time to 35% now, a drop of thirteen percentage points.
Ontario Sick Days, Diverting Vaccines to Hot Spots
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds a majority (76%) of Ontarians support workers receiving at least five (5) paid sick days either as an Emergency COVID Provision (39%) or Permanently (37%) from the Ford Government.
Canadian Trusted News Sources
A tri-country survey released today by Maru Public opinion finds the most trusted television national news sources for each country are BBC One (UK), CBS (USA), and CBC (Canada). Each outlet went head-to-head with their respective network and cable news competitors.
Canadian Personal Willingness to Undertake Activities as COVID-19 Response Unfolds
These results are taken from Maru’s ongoing syndicated study, Maru/Reports Feel, Behave, Think COVID-19 Tracker. This study has been fielded since April 2020, twice monthly, to a representative sample of roughly 1,500 Canadian adult respondents. The topics are wide ranging and what follows are the results of one question from the most recent sounding.
Scotiabank Housing
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion that was conducted for Scotiabank finds that more than half of Canadians (57%) believe now is a good time to buy a house due to the low interest rate environment, up nearly 20% since August 2020. In fact, the Scotiabank 2021 Housing Survey finds younger Canadians (39%) saying that the pandemic has accelerated their plans to purchase a home, which has more than doubled in just over 6 months.
Life After Death
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds that majorities of citizens in each of the United States (68%), Britain (55%), and Canada (51%) believe they will continue to exist in some form after they die – with an average of one third (34%) of all of those surveyed in the three countries combined who say they can actually converse with a specific person who is no longer alive.
Canadians and Self-Care During the Pandemic
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion that was conducted for Scotiabank finds a majority (79%) of Canadians have partaken in at least one self-care activity since the pandemic began a year ago—and spending an average of $281.54 to do so.
