Parent student spending in Canada
A new Yahoo Canada/ Maru Public Opinion survey finds inflation is impacting nine in ten (89%) parents who are spending to get their students ready for either elementary, middle, or secondary school this fall. The study also revealed that one-third (32%) of parents are spending more this year for their young students to be prepared for school compared to last year, while a smaller group (15%) say they’re spending proportionately less.
Most Respected Technology products providers for 2022
The results of a survey conducted by Maru Public Opinion for the Canadas Most Respected Award Program finds that for a second consecutive year, Canadians have chosen Samsung and Sony as the Most Respected Canadian company that provides consumers with technologically-based consumer products related such as computers, mobile devices, home AV, electronics and/or appliances.
Student challenges
A Maru Public Opinion survey undertaken for the Canadian Women’s Foundation finds that as schools prepare to open their doors for a new year of student learning, parents believe their children aged nine to 19 have experienced the following challenges in the past two years:
Early monkeypox concerns
A new Maru Public Opinion survey released today finds the youngest Canadians to be the most concerned (51%) group in the country about contracting the monkeypox virus and would be the first to step up right now (30%) to get a smallpox vaccine that may effectively thwart the virus.
Bearing the brunt
A new Yahoo Canada/ Maru Public Opinion survey released today finds more Canadians set stricter priorities and reduced spending in July versus June, with restaurant food, groceries, and entertainment bearing the brunt of the cutbacks. The survey also found that more Canadians think the country is in a recession (26% up from 17% in mid-June), but it’s certainly not the majority (59%) who believe it’s headed towards one.
When it comes to the impact of inflation and their ability to buy necessities for themselves and/or their family nowadays, fewer Canadians are worried, more are comfortable, and few are panicked.
Job change outlook
A Maru Public Opinion survey undertaken for ADP Canada finds that one in seven (14%) of Canadian workers are looking to change from their current job to something further afield (either by transferring to a new organization or to a new industry) in the next six months.
The key considerations in their decision-making to seek greener pastures are better compensation (88%), the desire for a career change (77%), and more flexibility (71%).
The digital pharmacy
A new Maru Public Opinion survey undertaken for Mednow and released today finds that half (49%) of Canadians are open to filling their prescriptions through a digital pharmacy (less than 2% are typically doing so now.)
Credit card budgeting
Findings from the 2022 Scotiabank Credit Card Survey of Canadians undertaken by Maru Public Opinion and released today reveal that almost all Canadians with a credit card (95%) say they’re very good (56%) or good (39%) at sticking to their budget spending limits when using their credit card.
Further, the vast majority (92%) indicate they always check their monthly statement for accuracy, and just as many (90%) say they know the annual fee they pay on their most frequently used card.
World chocolate day - CA
A new Maru Public Opinion survey released today to commemorate World Chocolate Day finds there are much higher weekly chocolate consumers in the United Kingdom (77%) and the United States (72%) compared with their sweet tooth counterparts in Canada (66%).
Buckets & bubbly
A new Maru Public Opinion survey conducted for KFC Canada and released today finds that many Canadian adults (41%) are interested in trying fried chicken and a glass of their favourite champagne, crémant, cava, or prosecco to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day.
Will online option
Findings from a survey undertaken by Maru Public Opinion for CIBC and released today reveal that than half (53%) of Canadians have no legal Will and, among that group, a majority (54%) believe the ability to create a Will online would be a convenient option for them.
Those without a legal Will are most likely to reside in Alberta/Manitoba/Saskatchewan (61%), followed by those living in Atlantic Canada (58%), British Columbia (53%), Ontario (51%), and Québec (48%).
No plan, more worry
A new Yahoo/Maru Public Opinion survey released today reveals a majority (55%) of Canadians believe Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has no solid plan to fight inflation and bring prices down. This statistic compares with two in ten (20%) who believe the Prime Minister has a “good plan” versus one quarter (25%) of the population the believes he has a “bad plan”.
