US Vacation Travel Plans

A Maru Public Opinion survey released today finds that despite COVID in the United States and abroad, almost half (48%) of Americans plan to vacation in the next six months or so. In fact, of those who intend to vacation, it’s both price (48%) and having the time available to take the vacation (41%) that are driving their decision making, not safety from the COVID virus in either travelling to or at their vacation destination (38%).

The study findings also suggest that, despite the impact or presence of the COVID virus at home or abroad, Americans—whether traveling now or whenever it suits—don’t intend to alter the type of vacation experience they had before the pandemic and the one they want next.

The confidence of many Americans (43%) to travel and vacation is also being boosted by reading and hearing that others are doing so, and while local respites and road trips are well considered ventures, a majority (62%) of those planning a vacation intend to take a flight to get to their destination, with most (44%) making their arrangements directly or via an Online service like Expedia/Trivago (35%).
