Make them essential
As both the Ontario government and the union (CUPE) representing Ontario’s education workers, including education assistants, custodians, and librarians, turn down the volume and meet again in an attempt to solve their contract dispute, a new Maru Public Opinion poll reveals that Ontarians are split over which approach would be best to bring the current impasse to a conclusion: a slim majority (53%) believe the government and the union stay at the table for a collective bargain on their own as opposed to being concluded by an arbitrator who can impose a settlement on both parties (47%).
