A tri-country survey released today by Maru Public opinion finds the most trusted television national news sources for each country are BBC One (UK), CBS (USA), and CBC (Canada). Each outlet went head-to-head with their respective network and cable news competitors.
Americans Personal Willingness to Undertake Activities as COVID-19 Response Unfolds
These results are taken from Maru’s ongoing syndicated study, Maru/Reports Feel, Behave, Think COVID-19 Tracker. This study has been fielded since April 2020, often twice monthly, to a representative sample of roughly 1,500 American adult respondents. The topics are wide ranging and what follows are the results of one question from the most recent sounding.
American Opinions on Life After Death
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds that majorities of citizens in each of the United States (68%), Britain (55%), and Canada (51%) believe they will continue to exist in some form after they die – with an average of one third (34%) of all of those surveyed in the three countries combined who say they can actually converse with a specific person who is no longer alive.
American Stimulus Check Spending
A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion in collaboration with Refinitiv indicates that eight in ten (80%) of Americans plan to mainly put their stimulus checks into either savings (48%) or pay down debt (32%). Of the remaining Americans, only one in five (20%) plan to mainly do otherwise by either spending (15%) or investing (5%) the amount they receive.
As Vaccines Roll Out, American Consumers Inject Optimism into Economic Outlook
A new tri-country survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds a majority (61%) of consumers in the United States believe that their economy is Moving in the Right Direction, well ahead of majorities also registering in Canada (54%) and the United Kingdom (53%).
The apparent optimism coincides with the roll-out of vaccines across all three countries with consumers up smartly with their assessments from an identical sounding taken around the same time in February—consumers in the US have jumped from 49% then to 61% now (+12), with bounces similarly among consumers in both Canada up from 43% to 54% (+11) and the UK up from 43% (+10).
US Mask Rules
The results of a tri-country survey released today by Maru Public Opinion find that many (40%) Americans say the local masking rules imposed by authorities in communities are not sufficient to prevent the spread of COVID-19, compared to a majority (53%) of United Kingdom citizens and one third of Canadians (33%). The study also found that Americans (80%) lag on masking efficacy behind those living in the UK (82%) and Canada (88%).

Maru/Blue Collaborative Refinitiv Super Bowl Study
For many in America, the Superbowl this coming Sunday is not just a die-hard game but something of a miracle during these days of the pandemic. A collaborative study conducted by Maru/Blue Public Opinion and Refinitiv indicates that upwards of almost two-thirds of Americans could be tuning in to see all or part of the event—and of that group, a majority (59%) pick the Kansas City Chiefs to defeat the minority chosen (41%) Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
US Telehealth
A survey released today by Maru/Blue Public Opinion finds that three quarters (73%) of Americans are open to having telemedicine/telehealth interactions with a doctor online so they can assess their medical conditions, do a checkup, or prescribe medication. In fact, one third (34%) of Americans are very open to this proposition. As well, nearly two thirds (62%) of Americans have confidence that a doctor could diagnose a medical condition they might have using an online telemedicine/telehealth interaction.
Stimulus Checks
A survey released today by Maru/Blue Public Opinion in collaboration with Refinitiv finds that just one in five (20%) Americans who may qualify to receive their federal stimulus checks will be mainly spending it compared to the majority (80%) who will either use the money mainly to either put it into savings (44%) or pay down their debt (36%).
American Holiday Shopping
A new survey released today by Maru/Blue Public Opinion indicates that Americans, by volume, will be spending less on gift giving this year than they did during the holiday season in 2019—but, whatever they purchase, and likely because of the pandemic, will mainly be via online (71%) outlets as opposed to the aisles of brick and mortar stores (21%).
Avoiding Doctors
A survey released today by Maru/Blue Public Opinion finds that four in 10 (40%) Americans have deliberately put off seeing a doctor/health professional in their office/facility over the last three months because they fear contracting the COVID-19 virus on site.
Vaccine Release in America
As the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) give approval to the Pfizer COVID 19 vaccine for use and ships the first batch of 2.9 million doses to Americans, a poll undertaken by Maru/Blue Public Opinion indicates that roughly one in three (31%) are ready to immediately roll up their sleeve and be vaccinated.
Post Black Friday in America
A post-Black Friday/Cyber Monday survey of Americans undertaken by Maru/Blue Public Opinion in collaboration with Refinitiv suggests that two thirds (62%) of Americans report participating in retail sales that took place between Black Friday morning last week and midnight on Cyber Monday. This compares to as many in a similar survey from the previous week who projected they would likely participate in Black Friday retail sales (61% —24% Yes/37% maybe, depends on the sale or circumstance.)
Thanksgiving Travel in America
A survey published today by Maru/Blue Public Opinion Research finds that a majority of Americans (75%) are concerned about catching Covid-19, and even more (78%) are staying home for Thanksgiving, one in five (19%) are taking calculated and travelling.
Black Friday in America 2020
A survey undertaken by Maru/Blue Public Opinion in collaboration with Refinitiv suggests that upwards of six in 10 (61%) Americans may hunt down bargains in this unprecedented Black Friday 2020 pandemic influenced economy.
Trump and Fraud
Majority of Americans (54%) believe voter fraud has taken place during this election. If all avenues of appeal have been exhausted, vast majority (78%) say President Trump should concede election and start transition of power, but almost as many (74%) don’t believe he will.
US Election Eve Projection
Americans split on who may win in the presidency but much clearer that Joe Biden should win and will take the country in the right direction versus Donald Trump

Emmy Winner Impact
A survey published today by Maru/Blue Public Opinion Research North America undertaken for Variety finds that when Americans know an Emmy Award was recently handed out to a particular show, one in 10 (10%) admit that the win has impacted their interest in watching the show to the point where they may subscribe to the network carrier.
