American Opinions on Life After Death

A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds that majorities of citizens in each of the United States (68%), Britain (55%), and Canada (51%) believe they will continue to exist in some form after they die – with an average of one third (34%) of all of those surveyed in the three countries combined who say they can actually converse with a specific person who is no longer alive.

American Stimulus Check Spending

A survey released today by Maru Public Opinion in collaboration with Refinitiv indicates that eight in ten (80%) of Americans plan to mainly put their stimulus checks into either savings (48%) or pay down debt (32%). Of the remaining Americans, only one in five (20%) plan to mainly do otherwise by either spending (15%) or investing (5%) the amount they receive.

As Vaccines Roll Out, American Consumers Inject Optimism into Economic Outlook

A new tri-country survey released today by Maru Public Opinion finds a majority (61%) of consumers in the United States believe that their economy is Moving in the Right Direction, well ahead of majorities also registering in Canada (54%) and the United Kingdom (53%).

The apparent optimism coincides with the roll-out of vaccines across all three countries with consumers up smartly with their assessments from an identical sounding taken around the same time in February—consumers in the US have jumped from 49% then to 61% now (+12), with bounces similarly among consumers in both Canada up from 43% to 54% (+11) and the UK up from 43% (+10).

US Mask Rules

The results of a tri-country survey released today by Maru Public Opinion find that many (40%) Americans say the local masking rules imposed by authorities in communities are not sufficient to prevent the spread of COVID-19, compared to a majority (53%) of United Kingdom citizens and one third of Canadians (33%). The study also found that Americans (80%) lag on masking efficacy behind those living in the UK (82%) and Canada (88%).

A survey released today by Maru/Blue Public Opinion finds that three quarters (73%) of Americans are open to having telemedicine/telehealth interactions with a doctor online so they can assess their medical conditions, do a checkup, or prescribe medication. In fact, one third (34%) of Americans are very open to this proposition. As well, nearly two thirds (62%) of Americans have confidence that a doctor could diagnose a medical condition they might have using an online telemedicine/telehealth interaction.

A survey released today by Maru/Blue Public Opinion in collaboration with Refinitiv finds that just one in five (20%) Americans who may qualify to receive their federal stimulus checks will be mainly spending it compared to the majority (80%) who will either use the money mainly to either put it into savings (44%) or pay down their debt (36%).
